Ranch Pressing is an independent small press operating on unceded Wadawurrung Country. We pay our respects to the Traditional Owners of the Lands and acknowledge First Nations artists as the first artists, makers and carers of the Skies, Waters and Lands on which we live and work.
Ranch Pressing publishes limited edition art, design, poetry and critical theory books on recycled, found and discarded stock. We use second hand printers, staplers, and stitchers. We design, commission, hand collate and bind with sustainability in mind.
We have moved away from using proprietary software. We design on open source (mostly word processing) software, then we cut and paste our pages in order and feed each sheet through an old risograph printer (one page at a time, twice). Risograph inks are soy-based and non-toxic.
We also use an old photocopier which means that not everything is lightfast (in fact, nothing is fast) so we do not claim that every part of your publication will last forever. But nothing lasts forever and maybe that’s a good thing.
If you’re still alive when the text has faded from the pages of your Ranch Pressing publication, please send it back to us and we will reprint it for you, free of charge.
